Jewish Approaches to the Study of the Bible and Rabbinic Tradition

The study of Torah is a major element of all forms of Jewish traditional life. We will try to understand the spirituality of learning, comparing and contrasting Orthodox and Progressive approaches and looking at the experience of studying in traditional and modern yeshivot and colleges. We will also look at the role of women in Jewish learning, with particular focus on the work of women rabbis and teachers.
